Cornerstone Church Ministries History

This is a product of moving too slow. Cornerstone Church Ministries is the spin-off of Cornerstone Church of God In Christ that was started by the late Elder Jay P.Dove and Mother Larnette Dove. These were my parents that the Lord took home to Glory a few years ago.

In 1957 the Lord put it in the spirit of Rev. Dove to open the church. He did so and it all began on Fillmore and Utica Street, with my parents my sisters, and two brothers. After a while, the church moved to 84 Rickert
St. in Buffalo.

I said Cornerstone Church Ministries is a product of moving too slow, and this is why. In 1985 the Lord called my father Elder Dove home with him and later that month Bishop C.H. McCoy came to Cornerstone and made me the minister in charge of Cornerstone C.O.G.I.C.

Well soon after that I got mad with the church, the Lord, and my family. I left the church God and family alone for a few years. During that time Cornerstone Church of God in Christ ended up in the hands of a fellow minister that grew up with me in the church and a son of Cornerstone C.O.G.I.C. Elder Leonard Lannie. After while he changed the name and Cornerstone C.O.G.I.C. was done.

A lot transpired in between me leaving Cornerstone and the changing of the name and the closing of Cornerstone. That is another story for another time.

I am here to tell how Cornerstone Church Ministries begun. Let me first tell you that when God has a call on your life, you cannot run from it. Or should I say "get a way from it", which what I tried to do. I was going through some rough times and I was staying at my nieces’ house. I was sleeping one night and having a dream, in the dream I was out on a date. Well all I know is that all of a sudden I was in the front seat of Rev. Q. Ross church (we called him Grandpa) and he said "you know you are supposed to be pastoring this church", that was in April of 2015.

A couple of days later my former pastor at Delaine Waring A.M.E. Church Rev. Gregory P. Nelson came into the radio station I was working at the time....and that as they say "The Rest is History".
